Arnold Janssen, a prophet for our times is the Father, Leader, and Founder of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD). He was a tireless seeker after the will of God a man of discernment. At a time when most of us are attracted by the advantages of a life of mediocrity and splendid ways of the comfort culture, Arnold’s example stands out as a compelling invitation to a deep introspection. He was a man of outstanding faith and virtue. The depth of his vision for an integrated approach to Christian Mission has widely been acclaimed. His vision has been captured and re-incarnated in various parts of the world in keeping with the demands of particular places and specific times. It also reached the shores of India. His followers are rendering outstanding service in the fields of education, culture, research, medical care, and social upliftment. He was a great educationist and promoted higher learning and we emulate his life and example.

Fr. Arnold stands for the Vision of a mission that transcends the boundaries of culture and language, and for the faith, humility and patience which necessarily sustain that vision. Arnold was a man of patient waiting, alert to the present and a seer of limitless possibilities.
